When connected to a DirtMate RTK position in the Propeller Mobile App, you can capture high-precision measurements in real time. Captured points automatically sync to the Propeller Platform within the site and workspace where they were taken.
| ℹ️ Note: Lines and polygons are temporary measurements. They will not save or sync to the platform. |
Capturing points
- To start, press the + button found in the bottom right corner of the screen
- Select Point.
- In the point measurement menu, enter a name and description.
- The point name is typically a number
- The description is a short code or abbreviation for what the point represents
- These fields help you organize captures for easier review in the platform later
-
Scroll to the bottom of the menu to assign the point to an existing folder in any of your workspaces
ℹ️ Note: New workspaces and folders must be created in the Propeller Platform > before they appear here.
- Ensure the survey pole is plumb/level, with the tip occupying your desired location. Use the bubble vial on the survey rod to minimize tilt for the most accurate result.
-
Tap the yellow Capture button to save the position.
After each capture, the point name number increments automatically and the description carries over. If you move to a new feature or task, update the description manually before your next capture.
|
ℹ️ Note: Points can only be captured when DirtMate has an RTK Fix. Low accuracy positions cannot be saved. |
Reviewing RTK point measurements in the Platform
Captured points sync automatically to the Propeller Platform. To review them:
- Open the site and workspace used during the RTK session
- Select any point marked with a satellite icon
Each point's properties include projected coordinates and Capture details that reflect DirtMate's status at the time of capture.
Capturing a temporary line measurement
Use a line measurement to measure distances and gradients of existing features on site.
- Tap the + icon to open the measurement tools, then select Line.
- Walk to your desired starting location and then tap Add point
- Continue adding points along the feature you want to measure.
- Two points: displays grade, horizontal distance, and vertical distance. Point-to-point distance accounts for vertical change; horizontal distance uses XY only.
- Three or more points: displays the length of each segment on the map
- To add more points, can use the back arrow to return to the line tool. Use Undo button to remove the most recent point.
Capturing a temporary polygon measurement
Use a polygon to measure an area or define a zone for surface comparison. Each point added is 3D, and the resulting polygon creates a temporary TIN surface that can be compared to a design or used as a Smart Volume Surface.
- Tap the + button to open the measurement tools, then select Polygon
- Walk the boundary of the area, tapping Add point at each corner. The map highlights the captured area in yellow as you go.
- When you've defined the area, tap View polygon to review the measurement
- Use the dropdown to compare the TIN surface against a selected design or use it as a Smart Volume Surface.
|
ℹ️ Note: The drone survey is not available as a comparison source in this view. To run stockpile or design surface comparisons, disconnect the rover from the details page and return to the standard Propeller Mobile App experience. |
