Q: Does Propeller use AI in the platform?
The core workflows in the Propeller Platform do not use AI. We've introduced select features that use AI and machine learning to improve insights and efficiency. There are two distinct types:
- Machine learning (ML) — automated object detection within survey imagery.
- Large language models (LLMs) — helping you analyze and interact with your data through natural language.
Q: Where do the models run, and does my data go to a third-party AI service?
Propeller's products use self-hosted models. We do not pass customer data to any third-party AI services. Your data stays within Propeller's controlled environment, under the same encryption, storage and data-residency controls that apply to your survey data.
Q: Is my data used to train Propeller's AI models?
- LLMs: No. We do not use customer data to train our LLMs, so sensitive information is never incorporated into a model's knowledge.
- Machine learning: We may use de-identified customer data to train our ML algorithms. Because these models are used exclusively for object detection and pattern recognition, there is no risk of sensitive customer data being exposed through model outputs.
Q: Could another customer ever see or benefit from my data?
No. Any learning derived from your content is isolated to improving your organizations’s own tenant. It is not made available to, accessible by, or used for the benefit of any other customer or third party. In practice: if your team uploads designs and site data, another customer cannot prompt our AI features to surface or reproduce anything derived from your work, nor will it accidentally show up in another Customer’s output — another customer’s tenant simply has no access to that information.
Q: Can my organization opt out of AI features?
Yes. You maintain full control over your experience and can choose not to use the LLM-driven features if you prefer your data not be processed by these models. We can also disable AI features at the organization level so they're switched off for everyone on your account.
Q: Is my data kept separate from other customers' data?
Yes. Each conversation and its data is scoped only to the authenticated user and the sites they're permitted to access.
Q: What about Propeller's own internal AI use?
Internally, Propeller employees only use AI products that explicitly do not use our corporate or customer data to train their models.
