Moving to a New DirtMate Site

One of the best features of DirtMates is that they are easy to install and remove.

This deliberate design feature allows you to keep using your DirtMates for a long period over many projects.

The machines with DirtMates can be moved from one site to another as needed. This is very straight forward, especially if you already have a Network Gateway and base installed on the site to which you want to move these DirtMates.

Consider the Base DirtMate

  1. Method for establishing the base

    • If you plan to use the Propeller Correction Network(PCN), it is critical to verify that the new site is within range of a reference station. You can verify this using the Propeller Corrections Network Coverage Map.
    • If out of range, the base coordinates will need to be established with an RTK rover set up in the project coordinate system.
    • If you do not have access to a Base/Rover, communicate with the Project Surveyor to schedule a time for the Base DirtMate’s Northing, Easting, and Elevation to be measured.

Consider Internet Connection

  1. Networking

    • Verify that there is good cellular service in the project area. Your networking hardware can be set up with a cellular provider that has minimal to no coverage in the area. (Contact Site Support to discuss.)
    • If there is no cellular coverage, an alternative networking source will be needed to utilize DirtMate on the project. Starlink is a popular alternative that users can configure Dirtmate to utilize for networking.
    • If you plan to have a wifi source on site(typically for mobile office space), It is possible to configure DirtMates to connect to a custom wifi network by providing the network SSID and credentials when adding a network to the site in the DirtMate Management App.
