How to Install DirtMates on Different Machine Types

The following table describes the ideal location for a DirtMate for specific machines.

Reminder:

  • DirtMates have a magnetic base that can be fastened on top of a machine.
  • A mounting bracket must be used to secure the DirtMate on non-metallic surfaces. The bracket can be secured using exterior-quality self-adhesive tape or an exterior-quality construction adhesive like Sikaflex or 3M.

We recommend inspecting the brackets every six months to ensure the adhesive is still holding. If you are able to remove the bracket, clean the surface and apply new adhesive before reattaching the DirtMate and bracket.

Most machine types will have DirtMate mounted on the cab. If possible, it’s Ideal to position the Dirtmate near the rear of the cab. This allows the LED lights on the unit to be visible from the ground. It also reduces the surface error when machines slightly lift the front of the machine off the ground with the implement (unlikely but possible with dozers and loaders).
