Sleep/Wake DirtMate Install Configuration

DirtMate units can power on and off at specific times to limit the collection of GPS data to what is necessary for the project. There is likely no need to collect position and utilization data throughout each night when the machines are parked up and not in production. Introducing an “Install Configuration” for each Dirtmate will ensure that the data you need is the data you get.

This is especially helpful for DirtMate units that are not directly powered from the machine but instead rely on solar power. Allowing DirtMates to sleep during the night will minimize the need to charge and maintain battery life.

Configuring DirtMate Data Collection

In the DirtMate Management App, Navigate to the DIRTMATE tab.

Select any Dirtmate to familiarize yourself with the install configuration. This Configuration can be found by scrolling down to the bottom of the page in the DirtMate listing. A drop down arrow will be next to the “Install Configuration” listing.

When the arrow is selected, the values are revealed. To enter or edit the values, Select the “edit” pencil at the top right corner of the screen.

The Start and End times should represent the time you expect the fleet to “fire up” and “shut down” each production day.

By default, each checkbox is enabled to Limit data collection time. If your site runs 24 hours a day, you have good reason to uncheck this box.

Also, by default, DirtMates will attempt to upload before sleeping in case the data stored near the end of the day has not been offloaded yet.

If you are swapping a DirtMate to another machine, DirtMates will try to offload stored data before the unit is powered off (Shutdown). This allows data from the previous machine to offload before installing to a new machine.
