How to set up Procore to integrate with Propeller

A Procore company admin needs to install the Propeller app before your team can push and pull files between Propeller and Procore. If Allow User Installs is turned on in your Procore account, individual users can also install the app themselves.

Install the Propeller app

To install Propeller from the Procore Marketplace, you'll need Admin-level permissions on the Company level Admin tool, or Allow User Installs must be turned on for your company (see below).

  1. Go to the Propeller app page on the Procore Marketplace
  2. Click Install app
  3. Review the permissions the app requires, then click Install to confirm

Procore will automatically create a service account in your Company Directory for the Propeller integration. This is expected — it's how Procore manages third-party app access.

Once installed, your team can connect their individual Propeller accounts to Procore. They'll be prompted to log in and authorize the connection the first time they push or pull a file.

Allow users to install apps (admin setting)

As a company admin, you can turn app installs on or off for your entire organization. When on, all users can install apps from the Procore Marketplace, including Propeller. When off, no users can install apps.

Requirements:

  • Admin-level permissions on the Company level Admin tool in Procore

Steps:

  1. In Procore, navigate to the Company level Admin tool
  2. Under Company Settings, click App Management
  3. Click the Allow User Installs toggle:
    • On — users can install apps, including Propeller. This is the default setting.
    • Off — users cannot install apps. Company admins receive an email notification when a user attempts to install an application or access a third-party integration.

Changes take effect immediately.

If you don't have permission to install apps

If you can't install the Propeller app because Allow User Installs is turned off for your company, you have two options:

  • Ask your company admin to install the app for you — share the Propeller app page with your admin and ask them to follow the install steps above
  • Ask your company admin to allow user installs — ask them to turn on the Allow User Installs toggle (see steps above), then install the app yourself

For more on reviewing install requests, see Manage App Install Requests in the Procore Help Center.
