How to use Trimble TTM files in Propeller

Our goal is to help earthwork teams move faster, safer, and with confidence. For Trimble users, Propeller offers seamless integration with native TTM files, removing the need for file conversions.

Learn how to upload and export Trimble TTM files in Propeller for both survey and design surfaces. Seamlessly integrate rover and machine data to calculate volumes, track progress, and create composites without file conversions.

Uploading TTM files for TIN surfaces

Use this option to use your TTM file as a survey surface.

Upload Trimble TTM files as a survey directly to Propeller to measure and create composites using your native file formats. This allows you to bring in rover data or machine data to merge with drone data for a complete site picture.

How to do it:

  1. Navigate to the UPLOAD button
  2. Select Surveys
  3. Select TIN Surface
  4. Drag and drop your TTM file
  5. Click SUBMIT. Propeller then processes the file as a TIN surface.

Uploading TTM files as designs

Use this option to check your progress against the plan.

Uploading a TTM file as a design helps you visualize the plan against your terrain. It allows you to calculate volumes between your latest survey data and the design surface.

How to do it:

  1. Click the UPLOAD button and select Designs.
  2. Drag and drop, or Click to add, the TTM file you want to upload.
  3. It will automatically live inside the Designs tab.

💡 Tip: Once your Trimble TTM surveys or designs are in Propeller, you can start measuring, creating composites, comparing surfaces, and/or taking cut/fill measurements.

Exporting TTM files

You can also export data from Propeller back into your Trimble ecosystem.
  1. Draw the area you want to export using the Polygon tool and save the measurement
  2. From the three-dot menu options, select Export, then Surface and choose TTM as the format
