This guide outlines the essential steps and considerations for both buying and selling secondhand AeroPoints. Following these procedures will ensure a smooth ownership transfer and the correct collection of your data.
Considerations for Buying Secondhand AeroPoints
Before purchasing, it is important to understand the terms of the sale and the condition of the hardware.
Warranty and Subscriptions
- Be aware that secondhand AeroPoints may not be covered under the one-year manufacturer’s warranty.
- If the AeroPoints are still within the warranty period, the remainder of the warranty will transfer to you but will not be reset.
- The remainder of the original annual data processing subscription will also transfer. You are responsible for purchasing a new subscription once the original one expires.
Adding to an Existing Fleet
- If you already own AeroPoints, you must inform our Hardware Support team that you are adding more to your fleet.
- Ensure the seller grants access to the new AeroPoints so they can be added to your existing group.
Buyer's Checklist
Before you buy, we recommend the following:
- Check for Warranty: See if the products have a current manufacturer’s warranty that you can take over.
- Ask Questions: Inquire about the product’s age, any wear and tear, or known faults. Keep a copy of the seller’s answers.
- Request Receipt: Ask the seller if they have the original receipt or a copy.
-
Verify Quality: The seller should guarantee the AeroPoints are of acceptable quality, meaning they are:
- Safe and free from defects.
- Acceptable in appearance and finish.
- Able to perform the job as expected.
How to Sell and Transfer Secondhand AeroPoints

Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Troubleshooting Your AeroPoints
- Issue: My secondhand AeroPoint is malfunctioning.
- Solution: Your troubleshooting steps will differ depending on the model. Please follow the specific workflow for AeroPoint 1s or AeroPoint 2s. If the device is still under warranty, it may be eligible for a replacement.
Extending the Life of Your AeroPoints
- AeroPoints are water-resistant but not waterproof. They should never be submerged. Clean them with a damp cloth after use.
- Stack and store AeroPoints with the undersides together to protect the solar panels from scratches.
- Regularly charge your AeroPoints to full after use and before long-term storage.
- If you have AeroPoint 2s, keep the charging port clean and closed when not in use to prevent corrosion.
Transferring secondhand AeroPoints requires cooperation between the buyer, the seller, and Propeller Support. By following these guidelines, you can ensure a smooth transition and the continued proper functioning of your devices. Always verify warranty and subscription status before purchase.
