This guide provides a comprehensive overview of how to upload a TIN surface, which is essential for integrating ground-based GPS or total station data into the Propeller platform. It covers the step-by-step process, from selecting the file to finalizing the submission, and explains how this data can be used as a standalone survey. More importantly, it highlights how to add the survey to a composite model, allowing you to patch drone data or combine multiple sources for a more complete and accurate view of your worksite.
Uploading a TIN Survey
Click the UPLOAD button at the top-right corner. Select Surveys, and under the PRE-PROCESSED section, click TIN Surface.
Navigate to or drag and drop your files into the TIN Surface window.
Once, you've uploaded a file, two checkboxes will display:
- Add survey/s to Composite - Choose this option if you want the file to be added to a composite survey (this will only show when a composite is currently selected in the survey picker).
- Hide from Survey Picker - By default it is enabled, however you can still access the survey by selecting Show hidden in the survey picker.
After confirming your selection. Click SUBMIT.
You’ll receive a confirmation that the TIN surface is uploading successfully.
You can navigate to the TIN survey by selecting it in the Dataset drop-down (survey picker).
| 💡 Tip: You can view and create a composite of TIN surveys by patching an existing drone survey or build a larger composite from multiple captures. Read more here Getting Started with Composite Surveys. |
If the Hide from Survey Picker option was selected, the survey will not appear in the drop-down by default. To view the survey, toggle on 'Show hidden'. Hidden surveys are represented with the ()icon.
When the survey is opened via the Survey Explorer, it will display as an elevation heatmap by default, similar to other non-imagery surveys. You can hide/visualize the TIN Surface layer via the () icon.
