The Platform provides three ways to measure your site: points, lines, and polygons.
Point measurements can be used to track elevation changes. Line measurements include grade checks and cross-sections. Polygons are most often used to measure volumes. These are just some possibilities for measuring your site in the Platform. So, which one is right for you?
Measurement Templates
To start, click on the MEASURE tab and then CREATE A MEASUREMENT. A new window will open with all the available measurement tools and templates. Read the short descriptions for each template and choose the best one for your project.
You can search for a template from the search bar. To narrow down your search, filter by the type of measurement.
To bookmark a template, click the bookmark icon to the right of the template name. Once selected, bookmarked tools will be saved at the top of the list of templates.
Your bookmarked templates will also be available within the MEASURE tab for quick access.
Custom Templates
You can customize measurement templates. From the MEASURE tab, click on CREATE A MEASUREMENT.
Click on Custom in the measurement tools menu, scroll to the bottom of the page, and choose + NO TEMPLATE.
Select the type of measurement.
Draw the feature on the map. Double-click to finish the drawing. From here, you can add or delete tools from the template.
Name your new template and click SAVE.
This new template will be available for you to use in the Custom section of the template picker.
