Getting started using measurements
After logging in and selecting your site, the measurement toolbar will be accessible at the top of the map in every tool tab, ensuring ease of use across various functions.
To select a measurement tool, click on any dropdown menu and choose the tool you want to use.
If you want to use one of the pre-set templates for that measurement type, click the dropdown menu next to it to activate a template.
Points
- Use the Elevation tool to track height changes of a specific point across all surveys.
- Hazard marker: Mark safety hazards on the map and assign a severity level to the identified risks.
- +Custom Point allows you to add a custom point to suit your needs.
Select the point measurement you want to use from the dropdown menu, then click anywhere on the map.
Click on any location on the map to drop a point.
Information about that point will be displayed. Depending on the tool, you can fill out any relevant information you want to retain here. You’ll also see a chart comparing the elevation across your surveys.
Click the +ADD button to compare elevation points created across your design files.
Lines
- Distance: Measure the total surface length, point-to-point distance, and horizontal distance between two points.
- Berm Check: Calculate the height and widths of safety berms, bunds, windrows, or other barriers.
- Cross-section: View a cross-section of one or more designs or survey surfaces along a specified line.
- Elevation Difference: Calculate the elevation difference between points.
- Grade/Slope: Draw a line along a section of road, pavement, or track to calculate the grade as a degree, percentage, or ratio.
- The Custom Line tool lets you create lines with custom options to meet your needs.
Just like point measurements, line measurements function the same way.
From the dropdown menu, select the relevant line tool.
Draw a line on the map to create a measurement. Double-click to end the line.
Depending on the tool, information will be displayed in the side panel. If you are using the Cross-section tool, a graph will automatically appear, displaying relevant data.
Polygon
Use the Polygon tool to track measurements such as:
- Surface Area: Measure the surface area within a polygon.
- Bench Volume: Measure the volume of wall or bench section. This template is useful for measuring blast volumes.
- Cut/Fill: Measure progress or change in volume between your selected survey and your previous site survey.
- Area Progress: Measure site progress since the previous survey and against an uploaded design surface.
- Stockpile: Measure a stockpile using a smart, reference level, or custom base. Use the Stockpile measurement template to create customized Stockpile Inventory Reports.
- Custom Area: Create a custom polygon to suit your needs.
From the dropdown menu, select the relevant Polygon tool.
Draw an area on the map (or use the magic polygon tool) to create a measurement. Double-click to close the polygon.
Any calculations or information about the area you drew will be displayed in the side panel.
Use the +ADD/EDIT button to customize the measurement further. Make sure to save any measurements you want to keep.
Save and bookmark your favorite measurement tools
Save the tools you use the most for quick and easy access. You can save up to nine templates to customize your toolbar.
Click the thumbtack next to the tool you want to save.
Once pinned, it will be added to the toolbar for quick access.
Creating custom measurement tools
You can create custom measurement tools for each type to suit your specific needs.
Select +Custom Point, +Custom Line, or +Custom Area from the dropdown menu.
Select the custom items you want to include with your custom measurement and drag them to the left side of the window.
Once done, Click SAVE.
The custom tools you create can be found in the dropdown menu going forward.
You can also pin custom tools you create to your favorites for quick access.
Hotkeys
The primary measurement tools and custom templates you create are assigned hotkeys for quick tool selection. To view the hotkey, hover over the tool you intend to use.

Using autosave
You can enable Autosave to save your measurements right from the toolbar. Toggle it on to save points, lines, and polygons immediately after drawing them.
You can keep working with the same tool for consecutive shape creation, streamlining your workflow. The template you’ve selected stays selected until you pick another one or move elsewhere in the platform.
Properties panel
Click on any of the available tools to activate it. This method allows you to draw and view basic measurement attributes quickly. The measurement properties are calculated and displayed in the panel on the right.
With the new panel, you can explore individual measurements in detail while keeping your overall project context in view—and it’s collapsible if you need more map space.
